St. Louis Child Left Stranded At Wrong Bus Stop

St. Louis Child Left Stranded At Wrong Bus Stop

Ritenour School District is under fire after a 6-year-old girl was dropped off at the wrong bus stop and left alone. The little girl was found wandering on a busy street all by herself and could have been seriously injured. The incident happened on Monday, the first day back to school for students at Marvin Elementary. The six-year-old first grader was put on the wrong school bus at the end of the school day. The bus driver dropped her off alone at the wrong stop and broke protocol by leaving her alone without adult supervision. District policy requires a parent or guardian to pick up a kindergartener or first grader before the bus can drive away.

The little girl was spotted walking on St. Charles Rock Road and the police were contacted. Her mother was very upset since the young child had been missing for an hour and a half. The police brought her back to the school where she was reunited with her parent. The child’s mother is very upset and asking for action to be taken against the bus driver.

Ritenour School District officials are working on how the child got put on the wrong bus; blaming the problem with their data system. The student busing company, First Student, is conducting an internal investigation and the bus driver may face disciplinary action.
