Man Charged in Connection With ATV Accident

Man Charged in Connection With ATV Accident

Authorities in Utah are investigating an ATV accident that seriously injured two young boys. The accident happened in Logan, Utah in late July when four boys were riding an ATV. The ATV and a pickup truck collided on a rural road. Authorities first believed that the truck, operated by 71-year-old Erin Milligan, and the driver of the ATV both attempted to avoid the collision and turned the same way off the roadway. Both vehicles landed in a canal and the ATV and one boy were trapped underneath the truck. Two boys were transported to hospitals, and their families are now demanding that investigators take a deeper look into the accident. Milligan has been charged with misdemeanors of reckless endangerment and reckless driving.

As the cooler weather approaches, fewer ATV accidents will occur. Unfortunately, thousands of ATV accidents happen every year resulting in serious injuries and fatalities. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 100,000 individuals were treated for injuries sustained in ATV accidents in 2012. A quarter of those injured were children under the age of 16. ATV accidents are often caused by reckless driving; however, they are also caused by design flaws and mechanical defects. After an accident, it is necessary to contact a St. Louis ATV accident attorney to determine if you have grounds for a case.
