Child Bicycle Trailers Recalled

Child Bicycle Trailers Recalled

Burley Design has issued a recall for their child bicycle trailers due to a risk of injury. The purpose of the trailer is to pull children behind a bicycle with the use of a tow bar. The trailers are being recalled due to a defective tow bar that is separating from the trailer that could result in a crash. Consumers have reported the issue occurring 35 times and resulting in two children sustaining injuries. The recall covers approximately 34,000 trailers and is sold at Amazon, REI, and other sporting stores. Owners of the recalled items are encouraged to inspect their trailers and to contact Burley Design to receive a free repair kit. More information regarding the recall is on Burley Design’s website as well as the US Consumer Product Safety Commission website.

Product liability laws hold manufacturers accountable when the products they distribute cause injuries, illness, or death. All companies that produce consumer goods are required to produce safe products that will not cause harm. Thousands of individuals are injured due to unsafe and defective products every year, and a large portion of those injured are children. Toys, electronics, vehicles, and food are recalled annually and are often recalled after an injury has been sustained.

The experienced St. Louis product liability attorneys at Meyerkord, Meyerkord & Kurth will fight to hold any negligent manufacturer accountable for damages their products have caused.
