MLB Fans Concerned After Fatal Stadium Fall

MLB Fans Concerned After Fatal Stadium Fall

On Saturday, a man was killed when he fell from the stands at a major league baseball game. The man fell from a seating section on the upper deck of the stadium to his death 50 feet below. The accident happened at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia where the Atlanta Braves play, and it is the third fatality at the stadium in seven years. MLB is now being questioned regarding the safety of their stadiums. Although MLB officials stated that railing at all stadiums meets or exceeds regulations, several experts are claiming the regulations need to be altered. A St. Louis Cardinals fan, Chris Hoffman, fell from Busch Stadium in 2009 when he became overheated and blacked out. Hoffman fell over a railing, landing on the next level 15 feet below and caused him to sustain numerous broken bones. He believes if the railing was taller he would not have fallen. Hoffman believes if all safety regulations are met, and injuries or fatalities continue to occur, then those regulations need to be reviewed and modified.

Accidents resulting in injuries and fatalities occur at nearly any location, and if you sustained an injury or lost a loved one on another person’s property, you may have grounds for a premises liability case. Some accidents can not be prevented but if you were injured due to the negligence of the property owner they should be held responsible. Lack of lighting, wet floors, dangerous or lack of handrails, and lack of maintenance can all lead to accidents resulting in an injury. If you have been injured on another person’s property, it is important to consult a skilled St. Louis premises liability attorney.
