The jury found Johnson & Johnson guilty of failure to warn consumers of the risks of using the talc powder on genitals, causing ovarian cancer. The jury found Johnson & Johnson knowledgeable about the risk of talcum powder in products and they willing allowed the public to continue use, even marketing to women for personal hygiene use on genitals. This verdict opened the door for thousands of lawsuits against the company.

One of the largest and more recent verdicts against Johnson & Johnson came for a Missouri jury who awarded a family $72 million in compensation for damages after "Jane Doe" developed ovarian cancer from using Johnson and Johnson Baby Powder and Shower to Shower products for feminine hygiene for many years. Doe lost her battle to cancer this past October at the age of 62. For punitive damages, Johnson & Johnson was ordered to pay Doe's estate $62 million plus another $10 million in other damages. It was a 10-2 vote from the jurors who found the company of Johnson & Johnson guilty of negligence and failure to warn, with conspiracy to conceal its products' health risks.

Over the next several months, over 1,200 claims against Johnson & Johnson will play out in the courtrooms across the country, and millions of dollars will be won.
