Tow Truck Caused Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash

Tow Truck Caused Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash

A tow truck caused a fatal multiple-vehicle accident last week in west Phoenix. The fatal traffic accident resulted in the death of a man and injured several others. According to authorities, a tow truck ran a red light at 59th Avenue and Thomas Road around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, causing catastrophic damages. As the northbound tow truck sped through the intersection, it collided with two eastbound vehicles, a Mitsubishi and a Toyota Prius. The tow truck forced the Mitsubishi through the intersection causing it to collide with a Ford F-150 headed west. The Mitsubishi, still unable to free itself from the force of the truck, burst into flames while hitting a third vehicle stopped in the left turning lane, a Nissan Maxima. The northbound tow truck was still unable to stop and crashed into a southbound Kia minivan. The man driving the Mitsubishi died in his burning vehicle while others tried to help. By the time emergency responders arrived, it was too late to save the man. The tow truck driver suffered a head injury and remains in the hospital in serious condition. Two other drivers were taken to the hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries. According to the Phoenix Police, blood testing was conducted on all the drivers involved in the crash. The accident is still under investigation.
