Crane Accident Claims Life of Worker

Crane Accident Claims Life of Worker

A tragic work accident involving a crane claimed the life of a construction worker on Tuesday. The 51-year-old man was a resident of the town of Maine, Wisconsin and was working at Crystal Finishing Systems in Mosinee. The details of the accident are unclear, but an investigation is being conducted by local authorities as well as the Occupational Safety and Healthy Administration. As emergency crews arrived to the scene, they pronounced the man dead just before noon. The investigation is ongoing and will determine if any work violations were committed by the employer.

Workplace accidents happen thousands of times a year injuring and claiming the lives of innocent victims. Too often these accidents are caused by the negligence of the worker’s employer. In Missouri, any worker injured due to the negligence of others is eligible for worker’s compensation benefits. The coverage for medical treatment and compensation for lost wages is provided by these benefits. However, the compensation for lost wages is only replaced at a rate of 66.6% of the worker’s average weekly wage. The deficit often leaves injured workers struggling to make ends meet.
