Pedestrians are the most vulnerable of travelers and should take precautions to ensure their safety while traveling. Safety measures that should be apart of a pedestrian's routine include, using crosswalks or crossing at an intersection, wear reflective clothing if traveling at night, and obey traffic signals. Although, most pedestrians practice these safety tips, accidents still occur at a staggering rate. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 4,743 pedestrians were killed and vehicles injured 76,000 during 2012.
