Medical Treatment and Workers' Compensation

Employers with five or more employees or companies in the construction industry with at least one employee must have workers’ compensation insurance. Thus, when an employee gets hurt at work, the employee will be entitled to workers’ compensation. One of the benefits of workers’ compensation is that your employer will provide you with medical care related to your work injury.

However, pursuant to Missouri Workers’ Compensation law, the employer has the right to instruct the employee to see a particular doctor. If the employee does not see the doctor the employer provides, the employer may not have to pay for the employee’s associated medical treatment. If you are dissatisfied with the employer’s medical provider, you should contact an attorney to discuss your options. Please contact the attorneys at Meyerkord & Kurth for a free consultation
