Elderly Men Injured in Crash

|

An auto-accident took place in Leelanau County, Michigan on Saturday, December 2nd when a driver failed to yield properly. As a result of the 79-year-old driver’s failure to yield, his Chevrolet pick-up truck was struck by a 2010 Buick, which was being driven by a 70-year-old. Consequently, the pick-up truck spun out and flipped sideways and the front of the Buick was damaged. Both parties received injuries which were determined to be non-life-threatening; the pick-up truck driver was taken to the hospital for medical attention. Additionally, the pick-up truck driver was cited by the authorities for his failure to yield to oncoming traffic.

Failing to yield to the “right of way” can be deadly. In 2015, about 3,500 motorists were involved in fatal auto-accidents due to the failure to yield. In addition, failing to obey traffic signs often results in a traffic ticket. Fines can cost anywhere from $150 to $2,000 or more. To ensure the safety of yourself and other motorists, be sure to always obey traffic signs and practice safe driving.
