A police officer in Huntington Beach, California was attacked by a dog while making an arrest. Authorities answered to a call that a man was hitting cars and when they went to question him he refused to cooperate and his dog bit an officer. The officer attacked was treated at a local hospital and released.
It is estimated that 1,000 people seek emergency medical care each day for dog bites and the average cost for these injuries is $18,200. This is not only scary for those who own dogs but for those that come in contact with any dog. Even family dogs that have the best temperament can become agitated easily. It is always important to remember not to approach any strange dog that comes in your yard or crosses your path. Also, monitor young children and elderly individuals around dogs because they are not likely to be able to defend themselves if a dog attacks. Always contact a personal injury attorney if you’ve been attacked by a dog. An attorney will investigate your attack and determine if you have grounds to pursue compensation for your injuries.
