Crane Falls, Injures Men in Work Accident

An accident occurred in Sydney on Sunday around 11:30 a.m. when a crane fell on top of a building. Three men were working, attached to the boom of the crane by a safety harness. Allegedly, when the crane fell, the men were left hanging 60 meters above the ground. The men were taken to the hospital for medical care and one of the workers suffered severe injuries from the accident, while the other two men have minor injuries.

According to the United States Department of Labor, 4,821 working people were killed while at work in the year 2014. Additionally, three of the top violated Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards are fall protection, hazard communication, and scaffolding requirements. While companies often have rules and regulations put in place to protect their employees, accidents still can and do happen while on the job.
