A Chicago man clung to the roof of a moving vehicle that was attempting to flee a traffic accident in Riverside on Tuesday. Witnesses say it looked like a scene straight out of an action movie. According to police, a southbound vehicle struck another vehicle driven by a 44-year-old man on the 3400 block of Harlem Avenue. Authorities say that the driver tried to flee the scene but the 44-year-old victim got out of his car and jumped on the hood of the fleeing vehicle at the intersection of Harlem and Ogden. The victim claims the suspect drove his car in two continuous U-turns in an attempt to throw the victim off the vehicle. Police arrived on the scene and defused the hostile interactions between the victim and the suspect.
Police also took multiple statements from witnesses. One of the witnesses took several pictures of the incident and gave them to police. Riverside Police arrested the driver and have identified him as a 21-year-old who was driving with a suspended license. The police charged the young man with several other counts including fleeing the scene of a crash, aggravated assault, and reckless driving.
