Weekend Pedestrian Accident Injures More Than Twenty People

|

A pedestrian accident involved several people in a crowded parking lot over the weekend at a NASCAR race in Martinsville, VA. Police reported that 22 pedestrians were injured and nine were taken to local hospitals. A Chevy convertible is blamed for the pedestrian accident after the driver tried passing a Jeep in the parking lot when they struck the group of individuals. Officials reported that the victims ranged from ages 13-65 and it is believed that no one has suffered life-threatening injuries. The convertible driver has been charged and taken into custody.

Unfortunately, it is reported that one out of five auto accidents happen in parking lots so it’s always wise to be alert while walking in these due to the amount of overcrowding that can occur. It is scary to know that pedestrian accidents can happen at some of our favorite sporting events. Often drivers are distracted by cell phones, radios, and other sports fans, that it puts pedestrians in the danger zone. Pedestrian accidents can cause serious injury and even fatalities. These can be complex cases, so if you are a victim of a pedestrian accident, please contact a personal injury attorney immediately.
