Samsung Issues Recall For Hundreds Of Washing Machines

|

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of a number of their top-load washers. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the company will recall 34 different models of their top-load washers manufactured dating back until March 2011. The recall is stemming from reports that a risk of injury is present to consumers who use the high-speed spin cycle. The high-speed spin cycle can cause excessive vibrations which can cause the top to separate from the washer. Over 700 reports have been made and nearly ten people have been injured from the washer separating during a cycle.

Consumers in possession of a recalled washer have the choice of selecting a free at home repair or can chose a rebate that can be applied towards the purchase of a new Samsung washer. Consumers who chose a rebate receive a free installation. Consumers will also receive a new Home Label Kit in the mail as an extra precaution that will include warning labels and new step-by-step instructions. Samsung Electronics has also stated that consumers who recently purchased a recalled washer in the last 30 days can return their washer for a full refund. Consumers are urged to not use the washer unless it is on the delicate or waterproof cycles especially when washing bulky items. Customers can call Samsung Electronics America, Inc. for all questions or visit the website for a complete list of models recalled.
