BMW Issues Recall For Thousands of Vehicles

BMW has recalled over 154,000 vehicles due to vehicles stalling due to a potential wiring issue that can cause an accident. The recall is being issued to U.S. and Canada owners who have purchased certain models from 2007 to 2012. The 5-series and X5 vehicles along with some 6-series and X6 vehicles are being recalled. BMW states that wiring located in the fuel pumps, which are inside the gas tank, may not have been crimped properly. A connector can be melted if the crimped wire becomes loose which will cause stalling. The company has not reported any injuries or crashes from this issue and dealers are replacing the recalled product at no cost to owners.

Over 51.2 million vehicles were affected by recalls in 2015. These vehicles were recalled for 868 different issues by automakers. These companies are placing stringent compliance plans in place to oversee any defects and to alert consumers of potential problems. However, these issues can cause injuries and even fatalities.
