Mother and Son Killed in KC Auto Accident

|

A mother and son were killed in an auto accident in Kansas City last week. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the mother was driving the car southbound on I-35 when she lost control and crossed into the oncoming northbound traffic about 6:40 p.m. last Tuesday evening. The car was struck and split in half by an oncoming vehicle. The 28-year-old mother and her 9-year-old died instantly. The 46-year-old boyfriend was a passenger in the car and remains in critical condition. Witnesses say the mother was drinking just before the crash. The female driver of the other car was severely injured. She is reported to have suffered catastrophic injuries, and her family says she will suffer emotionally and physically for the rest of her life. An eleven-hour surgery was conducted on the woman, and she will remain hospitalized for some time.

The family of the deceased say the mother and son were on their way to grieve the death of a family member. Now the family must grieve their loss as well. The accident is still under investigation.
