Hotdogs and Corndogs Recalled for Listeria

|

Another Listeria contamination has resulted in a recall of hundreds of thousands of pounds of hot dogs. The company, Bar-S Foods has recalled 350,000 pounds of corn dogs and hot dogs due to possible contamination. Fortunately, there have not yet been any illnesses reported. The recall is considered a precautionary measure and there has not been a positive listeria reading from the products to date. The products were made during a few days in July. Any consumer in possession of the items should discard or return to the place of purchase.

Listeria is a bacteria that can lead to serious illnesses for individuals with weakened immune systems such as the elderly or pregnant women. Symptoms of such illness include diarrhea, muscle cramps, fever, and stomach pain. While rare, listeria could even result in death.
