Child Struck By Motorist In St. Louis

A child is in critical condition after a pedestrian accident in St. Louis. According to the St. Louis Police, a 5-year-old girl was hit by a car while crossing the street with her mother. The pedestrian accident occurred in the 1600 block of Olive Street on Friday, July 15, around 10:30 p.m. Police say the child was crossing south to north on Olive at 18th Street with her mother, when she ran from behind her mother in the middle of the street and was struck by a vehicle. According to investigators, the driver who struck the child briefly stopped and exited the vehicle. Then he quickly got back into his vehicle and drove west on Olive with four other passengers inside. Officers stopped the vehicle at 20th and Olive, but no one was detained. Many residents say the intersection is dangerous and others have been struck. Many are concerned nothing is being done to make the intersection safer.

Pedestrian accidents happen every day on Missouri roadways. Like motorcycle and bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents are often catastrophic because there is little to no protection for a victim if they are involved in a crash. If you or a loved one have been a victim of a pedestrian accident and it was the fault of the motorist, you may be entitled to compensation.
