Speeding Blamed for Crash that Kills Four

|

A tragic vehicle accident occurred Sunday in San Diego when a driver drove through a red light. As a result, the Acura collided with a Honda Odyssey. The Acura was split in half after hitting a pole. Tragically, four of the passengers in the vehicle passed away, three of whom were ejected. Additionally, another passenger of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for medical care. Two of the passengers in the Honda Odyssey were minorly injured. According to the police, the Acura was most likely being driven at a speed that was over the speed limit, since it was severed after already colliding with the Honda Odyssey.

Speeding is a factor in one out of three of all fatal vehicle accidents. Not only is speeding against the law, but it is a threat to both the driver of the vehicle and those around the vehicle. While speeding is common on highways, it is also common in areas where the speed limit is less than 50 miles per hour. About 50% of drivers speed in such areas. In addition, drivers that speed are more prone to carry out other unsafe driving behaviors, such as driving while intoxicated, driving distractedly, and not wearing a seat belt. To avoid vehicle accidents, do not speed while driving. Instead, follow all traffic laws and regulations.
