A Friday morning auto accident has resulted in one man suffering critical injuries. The accident happened in West Jordan, Utah when a 26-year-old man was operating a red car and pulled into the path of a white truck at approximately 6 a.m. on Redwood Road. The truck t-boned the car causing it to overturn. The driver of the car was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition. The truck driver also suffered minor injuries but did not seek medical treatment. The accident is being investigated to determine a cause, and authorities are unsure if drugs or alcohol are to blame.
Every year, 37,000 individuals are estimated to lose their lives in traffic crashes in the U.S., according to the Association for Safe International Road Travel. Tragically, auto accidents occur so often that most individuals will be directly involved in a crash or have a loved one who has been involved. The millions of vehicles that travel on the U.S. roadways increase the risks of an accident, and tragically, many of these accidents could have been prevented. Distracted driving, operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding, and aggressive driving are all examples of reckless driving that injure and kill thousands of people. While negligent driving is a common cause of car accidents, other factors such as dangerous roadways, mechanical defects, and design flaws can also lead to an accident. When an auto accident occurs the cause may appear obvious; however, a full investigation should always be conducted to properly determine the cause and if there are grounds for a personal injury, wrongful death, or third party case.
