Workplace Accident Involves Man Being Struck by Truck

|

A 68-year-old man was killed after being struck by a tractor-trailer in a workplace accident. The man was employed at the commercial business of Stericycle. The accident occurred on Thursday at around 6 a.m. in Oneonta, New York. As the worker was walking between a tractor-trailer and a loading dock, the truck backed over the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The Oneonta police and the Occupational Safety and Health Ajdsministraion are investigating the accident.

Workplace accidents cause thousands of workers to suffer injuries and can even result in death. While there are occupations that are deemed dangerous such as police officers, firefighters, and construction workers, every worker is at risk of sustaining a work-related injury. In Missouri, all employers with five or more workers are required to purchase worker’s compensation insurance to provide injured workers benefits in the form of medical coverage and wage replacement. Unfortunately, the injured workers only receive 66.6% of their average weekly wage. To receive the compensation they deserve, workers should consult an experienced worker’s compensation lawyer.
