St. Louis County Train Accident Injures Two

|

A train accident on Monday morning resulted in two individuals suffering serious injuries. The accident happened in St. Louis County when a train collided with a car at approximately 6 a.m. Authorities have released few details regarding the accident that happened near the Jefferson Barracks Bridge in the Bussen Quarry. It is known that the train belonged to Amtrak and that two individuals were transported to the hospital by ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The accident is being investigated.

Train accidents make up only a portion of the thousands of auto accidents every year. However, they result in a large number of serious injuries and fatalities. It’s no surprise that a train weighs several thousand pounds and when a collision occurs, the survival rate is small. Train accidents can happen in the form of a derailment or collision with a vehicle or pedestrian. Many collisions occur at railroad crossings where there is a lack of warning devices and signals. Railroad accidents are often a result of the negligence of the train conductor, controllers, mechanics, and railroad company. After a train accident a full investigation should always be conducted to determine the cause and party responsible.
