Meyerkord & Kurth Settles $200,000 Case

|

A 24-year-old man received a $200,000 settlement after suffering damages in an Illinois auto accident.

The plaintiff, J.W. was rushed to the hospital following the car accident that occurred on January 16, 2015. According to the police report, the defendant, an 89-year-old man was operating a Ford Ranger when he collided head-on with the plaintiff’s Chevrolet Blazer on Illinois Route 130. Tragically, the elderly man died as a result of the crash.

Upon arrival at the hospital, J.W. was treated for multiple lacerations and an evaluation determined that he had suffered fractures to his left and right patellas, his left ulna, left foot and left acetabulum. He underwent surgery, was prescribed medication, and physical therapy was required to recover from the injuries in which he continues to experience pain.

Geoff Meyerkord of the St. Louis law firm Meyerkord & Kurth successfully represented J. W. Mr. Meyerkord determined an accident reconstruction was necessary to effectively determine the liability of the case and once it was concluded, he was able to recover a $100,000 policy limits settlement from the defendant’s insurer, as well as a $100,000 underinsured policy limits settlement from J.W.’s insurance company. The $200,000 settlement was reached on September 30, 2015.
