A driver is facing felony DUI charges after an auto accident claimed the life of an individual on Monday. The accident happened in Sacramento, California at around 12:02 a.m. when two vehicles collided. According to the Sacramento Police Department, a 27-year-old woman was operating a sedan when she collided with a Hummer near the intersection of Northgate Boulevard and Tenaya Avenue. Both drivers survived the crash with only minor injuries. However, a 28-year-old female passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Today, yesterday, and every day, there are 28 people killed in DUI accidents, according to Mother’s Against Drunk Driving. While there are numerous forms of negligent and reckless driving, committing the crime of DUI is one of the most negligent decisions a driver can make. While the crime is punishable, drunk drivers who inflict injuries and claim the lives of others should be held accountable for their actions.
