Valspar Cabot has voluntarily recalled around 10,000 wood cleaners and wood brighteners due to a faulty cap seal. The company states that the seal can cause contents to leak out and pose a chemical hazard to their consumers. Ingesting, inhaling or skin contact with this product can cause burning and other injuries. The brightener and cleaners were sold in one gallon white bottles with the Cabot logo on the front. The wood cleaners were sold at Menards, and the wood brighteners were sold at multiple stores including Blain Supply, Do It Best, L&M Fleet Supply, Menards and Orgill in 10 states including Missouri and Illinois from August 2016 through September 2016 for $15. The company urges consumers to stop using the products, keep away from children and contact Valspar for disposal and refund instructions.
Product liability laws hold manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and retailers responsible for any injuries that their products cause. Recalls can affect consumer products, food, vehicles and even child safety. Many recalls can be easily fixed by returning the product for a refund or replacement. However, many of the recalled products can cause injury to the consumer. It is the responsibility of the company to ensure safety to all of their consumers. If you have suffered damages from a defective product, you may have grounds for a personal injury claim.
