Update: Six Illegal Immigrants Killed in Police Chase Car Crash

A fatal car crash that happened on Highway 59 in Edna, Texas occurred Wednesday killing over six people and injuring several more. After more investigation, police found up to 15 people inside the SUV when it crashed, and are now realizing the driver was fleeing them because it was a failed human smuggling attempt. Furthermore, after the driver of the SUV began fleeing police, they pursued on a high-speed chase throughout the city and eventually over corrected on a turn, causing the vehicle to flip several times.

After the car crash, four passengers were ejected from the vehicle, and died at the scene. Two other passengers ran away from the car crash scene, but were later apprehended by police. Likewise, two others died, and the remaining is being treated for injuries.

When police searched the SUV after the car accident, they realized the middle seat had been removed, and the back seat was folded down in order to cram more people inside the vehicle. It is believed that all of the illegal immigrants inside the SUV were from Honduras and Guatemala.
