Boating accidents are responsible for thousands of injuries and deaths every year. It is estimated that approximately 5,000 boat accidents occur annually. Similar to auto accidents, a large portion of boat accidents are preventable. Operating a boat under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding, lack of experience, and distracted boating are common causes of boating accidents. Those injured in boating accidents will likely incur medical expenses, lost wages, and emotional damages.
