Man Killed in Alton Pedestrian Accident

A pedestrian accident resulted in the death of a man on Sunday evening. According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, 24-year-old Benjamin George was attempting to cross Homer Adams Parkway in Alton, Illinois when he was struck by a vehicle around 6 p.m. George was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Health Center where he died from his injuries. The Madison County Coroner determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma. Authorities did not indicate whether the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene or if they were issued a citation. The accident is under investigation.
