Five-car crash shuts down highway in Massachusetts

|

It was a tragic start to the beginning of the weekend, when a five-vehicle collision shut down the highway in Somerville, Massachusetts. Likewise, the crash happened Friday morning on McGrath Highway at Medford Street injuring four people, one who was a pedestrian. Four people were injured in the crash, and one hurt was a 16-year-old boy who was crossing the street just as the crash happened; two people are critically injured.

After the accident, the one of the vehicles burst into flames causing an even more dangerous scene for those involved and in the area. Although the exact cause of the crash is under investigation, it is believed that speed was a contribution in wreck. The intersection was closed for hours while the vehicle fire was extinguished, and the crash scene was cleared.
