Tragically two people have died in St. Clair County, Illinois following a fatal car accident. The car accident happened on Highway 159 early Wednesday morning near Milligan Road when a northbound vehicle lost control. A 58-year-old that was heading northbound crossed over the centerline into oncoming traffic and caused the car accident.
As a result, the northbound vehicle struck two southbound cars; a Chevrolet and a Kia. The 58-year-old driver of the car that lost control and the driver of the Kia both died on the scene. The driver of the second vehicle that was struck did not suffer any injuries. A 29-year-old passenger that was inside the car with the 58-year-old victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Another 87-year-old woman was a passenger in one of the vehicles and also transported by helicopter to a St. Louis hospital with life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
