Motorcyclist Killed in Crash

|

A motorcycle accident caused the death of the man on Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida when 58-year-old David Wayne Beard was operating a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling on eastbound U.S. 98. According to authorities, 69-year-old Rodney Dixon Dorand was driving a 2010 Lexus when he turned onto U.S. 98 into the path of Beards’ motorcycle. The two vehicles collided and Beard was ejected from the motorcycle. Emergency crews are unsuccessful at reviving Beard and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Dorand sustained minor injuries in the crash and it is unknown if he will be issued citations.

When a motorcycle is struck or collides with another motor vehicle the results are deadly. Obvious reasons for this are the fact that a motorcycle is relatively smaller in size compared to other automobiles, and riders lack any protection compared to the enclosure of the car or truck. Many motorcycle accidents are caused by the reckless and negligent driving of the motorcyclists; however, it is also common for motorcycle accidents to be caused by the negligence of other motorists, dangerous roadways, and vehicle defects. Individuals that have suffered damages and those who have lost loved ones, in motorcycle accidents may be entitled to compensation for their damages.
