Fatal Accident on I-44

|

A tragic one-vehicle accident occurred on Tuesday evening around Joplin, Missouri. Richard R. Nesbit was driving on Interstate 44 when his vehicle veered off the left side of the road. After going off of the highway, the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse he was operating collided with a cable barrier. Devastatingly, Nesbit passed away at the place of the accident. It was determined that Nesbit was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Seat belts are very beneficial and can help save your life in the case of a vehicle accident. Wearing a seatbelt will reduce your chances of being injured or killed in a vehicle accident by 50%. It is important that every passenger in a vehicle wears a seat belt. The passengers located in the back of a vehicle are less likely to wear seatbelts than the passengers in the front of a vehicle, but all parts of a car are equally at risk for being injured in a vehicle. Additionally, not wearing your own seat belt will put others in your vehicle at a greater risk for being injured in the case of an accident because you could hit them more easily.
