Drunk Driver Injures Child, Sentenced to Probation

A man who has been found guilty of driving under the influence has been sentenced to probation after causing a crash that severed a toddler’s arm. In November 2014, 35-year-old Calvin Cosby was operating his vehicle with a blood alcohol level of twice the legal limit when he crashed into a vehicle containing a mother and her two young sons. One of the boys suffered serious injuries including a severed arm that had to be surgically reattached. The mother of the child, Cristal Waller, is furious that Cosby received what she referred to as “a slap on the wrist”. In October, Cosby pleaded guilty to four counts of second-degree assault.
