Barnett Outdoors Recalls Popular Crossbows Due to Serious Injuries

Posted By Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC || 18-Dec-2016

A popular crossbow company has recalled six different models of crossbows due to injury hazards. Barnett Outdoors is recalling the crossbows due to a sensor malfunction that can cause the crossbow to fire unexpectedly which poses a hazard to the user and any bystanders. This recall affects around 3,300 crossbows that are identified by model numbers which are printed on the riser limbs and dome labels located on the bow. The company said that they have received three reports of the crossbow firing unexpectedly which resulted in one hand laceration. These crossbows were sold at Bass Pro Shops, Dicks Sporting Goods, Cabela’s and other dealers and retailers from April 2016 through November 2016 between $800 and $1600. The company recommends consumers should stop using the recalled crossbows and contact them directly for a replacement trigger with a nock sensor for free.

Product liability laws are put in place to help protect consumers against faulty products that cause injuries. Each year defective products send thousands to the emergency room for injuries or illnesses. This can be worrisome because many times companies don’t even know that there is a problem with their products until complaints are made. Any time you notice a defect or a problem you should contact the company directly to report the issue. You should also contact a product liability lawyer if you have been injured due to the product. An attorney can evaluate your case and determine if you have grounds to file a claim against the company who may be responsible for your injuries.
