Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC Settles Case for $124,000

A 35-year-old KCMO man has settled an uninsured motorists’ claim with his insurance company after suffering life-altering injuries in a pedestrian accident last July.

The plaintiff, A.R. was acting as a good samaritan and directing traffic around an auto accident that had occurred on Interstate 470 in Lee's Summit, Missouri. As a Chevrolet Silverado entered the right lane where A.R. was standing, he was struck by the vehicle’s passenger side mirror. The impact caused A.R. to spin around and he was able to walk to the side of the roadway to safety. The unidentified driver of the truck fled the scene of the accident and police were unsuccessful at locating him.

A.R. suffered injuries to his right shoulder and neck requiring extensive medical treatment. After multiple CT scans, X-Rays, and MRI’s, it was determined that he sustained a disc bulge, partial paralysis to the right shoulder and arm, and neuropathic pain. A.R. was prescribed several pain medications and underwent physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. He has regained only partial use of his right arm and is required to wear a sling. He incurred approximately $70,000 in medical expenses.

Joseph D. Klenofsky of the St. Louis law firm Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC successfully represented A.R. The claim involved a dispute over the applicability of insurance coverage. A settlement of $124,000 was reached in July 2015.
