Hit-and-Run Suspect Arrested After Child Killed In Pedestrian Accident

The St. Louis Police have a suspect in custody after the fatal hit-and-run accident that killed a 12-year-old boy in South City on August 9th. The suspect is a 23-year-old man who has been charged with second-degree involuntary manslaughter and fleeing the scene of a crash. The suspect allegedly struck the 12-year-old boy as he was crossing Gravois and Delor with his speeding northbound red Audi at approximately 8:40 p.m. Police say the suspect fled the scene leaving the child to die. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died around four a.m.

Police, as well as friends and family, began searching for a four-door Audi with a black hood. The victim’s mother received a tip for the location of a car that match the description. The car was found parked behind a fence and covered in the same neighborhood as the victim, near Grand and Taft. The 23-year-old was arrested as neighbors watched. Residents say the accused has lived with his family in the area for nearly 17 years.
