Semi crash in Maine closes Interstate

Semi crash in Maine closes Interstate

Sunday night in Augusta, Maine was filled with traffic on Interstate 95 due to a tractor-trailer crash between exits 109 and 112A. Furthermore, the semi crash happened late that night on the Bond Brook overpass when the driver lost control on the icy roads, which resulted in major damage to the truck and the guardrail, which was destroyed. Likewise, the semi accident ripped the front axle off the truck, which fell below onto the roadway, as well as destroyed the fuel tanks, spilling liquid all over the road.

Luckily the driver of the semi was uninjured in the crash. As a precaution, drinking water wells located just below the overpass where the fuel leaked was temporarily shut down. Additionally, it was estimated that about 120 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled on the road. Although the nearby three wells were shut down, there does not seem to be any contamination of the water, although proof of that is yet to be seen.
