One dead after car crashes into frozen pond

Monday turned into a tragedy following a car crash, which killed one and injured another in Chicago, Illinois. Furthermore, the car that crashed left the road on Lake Shore Drive where there was no guardrail, and hit a frozen pond near the Lincoln Park Zoo. When the vehicle hit the frozen water, it never submerged but did roll over many times until it came to a final rest on its roof.

The water was so frozen; rescue workers had to remove the passengers from the car with a saw. One of the passengers was rushed to a nearby hospital, yet later died from her injuries. Another man, who was in the car at the time, was injured and taken to a nearby hospital, but his name and status is not currently known. Although it is not suspected that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, the accident is still under investigation.
