Kansas area hospitals penalized for infections

If you have to go into a hospital in Kansas, you may want to do a little background checking first. Furthermore, 11 area hospitals are included in the 700 nationwide locations that have been penalized due to the high amount of infections or patient injuries. Therefore, there has been a reduction in Medicare reimbursements since October for such locations. On a scoring meter, 51 hospitals were evaluated, and 40 weren't penalized because they scored below a 7 on a 10-point scale. The hospitals that were penalized include:

  • Overland Park Regional Medical Center
  • Menorah Medical Center
  • Saint Luke's South Hospital
  • University of Kansas Hospital
  • South Central Kansas Medical Center-Arkansas City
  • Sumner Regional Medical Center-Wellington
  • Miami County Medical Center-Paola
  • Saint John Hospital-Leavenworth
  • Kansas Heart Hospital
  • Coffeyville Regional Medical Center
