Pedestrians killed in busy intersection

Sadly a young girl and her boyfriend lost their lives while they crossed a busy intersection, which is known for heavy traffic. 18-year-old, LaTonya Williams and her boyfriend, 22-year-old, Jermaine Byrd were on their way home with snacks late in the evening on January 27, when they werestruck from behind by a vehicle. The tragic accident happened on the sidewalk near the busy intersection of Kienlen and Evanston Avenues.

In addition, the driver of the vehicle, which struck the pair, was a 19-year-old uninsured and unlicensed driver, that had no business being on the road in the first place. Likewise, although still unclear, police presume the driver swerved off the roadway to avoid hitting an oncoming vehicle. Thus far no charges have been filed towards the driver of the vehicle. Tragically, the families of the two people killed are still trying to pick up the pieces, and understand how this horrible preventable accident could have happened.
