Drunk Driver Faces Prison Time

A driver, who was driving while intoxicated, caused a fatal accident that happened in November. That driver, a 33-year-old Dittmer woman, is now facing five to fifteen years in prison for her actions. She was arrested and charged last Thursday with first-degree involuntary manslaughter. Her blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit.

The accident occurred as the woman left the grocery store to travel home. She was traveling near Ridge Road heading west on Highway 30 when she struck the other vehicle at 11:30 a.m. She crossed the centerline and lost control around a curve, hitting the truck. The woman and the driver of the truck, a 65-year-old male, were transported to the hospital where the man was pronounced dead.
