Woman Dies in Chicago Bus Accident

Woman Dies in Chicago Bus Accident

On Monday morning, a bus accident in Chicago claimed the life of a woman. According to police reports, a Burlington Trailways charter bus was traveling northbound on Interstate 55 when the driver lost control and caused the bus to crash at approximately 6:45 a.m. The driver lost control of the bus and collided with a construction arrow board sign near Damen. The impact claimed the life of 21-year-old Nicole M. Underwood and injured four other passengers. The victims were transported by ambulance to hospitals and authorities believe their injuries at not life threatening. The two rights lanes of I-55 are closed while the crash is being investigated.

Individuals that choose to travel on a bus are not typically concerned with being involved in a bus accident. However, many bus accidents occur annually injuring and claiming the lives of hundreds of people. Distracted driving, fatigued driving, speeding, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol are examples of driver negligence that can lead to a bus crash. Other causes of bus accidents could be dangerous roadways, vehicle design flaws, and mechanical errors. If you have been injured or lost a loved one in a bus accident, you may be entitled to compensation by holding the driver, bus company, and bus manufacturer accountable, depending on the cause of the crash.
