Meyerkord & Kurth, LLC: A Legacy of Legal Innovation
A bicyclist recently filed a lawsuit over injuries he claims he sustained when the defendant driver struck him with his vehicle. The incident that led to this lawsuit reportedly occurred on December 23, 2013 when the plaintiff alleges he was riding his bicycle north on Illinois Street near its intersection with West F Street in Belleville, Illinois. At that same time, the female defendant, who was driving south on the same road, attempted to make a left turn. The plaintiff bicyclist claims he had a green light and was riding through the intersection at the same time the defendant was attempting to turn left and, as a result, the defendant's vehicle collided with the bicyclist. As a result of the accident, the plaintiff claims he suffered a broken collarbone, as well as injuries to his right and left shoulders, head, face and neck and suffered great pain and mental anguish. Additionally, the plaintiff claims he lost wages and incurred medical costs. Of course, the plaintiff blames the female defendant for causing the accident, stating she negligently failed to yield to an intersection, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control and drove too fast. The lawsuit, which was filed in St. Clair County Circuit Court on August 25, seeks a judgment of more than $50,000 plus costs.
