Last night, Monday, August 8, a man from Ballwin died in a car accident. The accident occurred in St. Francois County on Highway 67. The sixty-seven year old man was driving north when his car went off the road way, hit median cables, and went across the median. The car continued across opposite traffic lanes and collided with the concrete edge of Big River Bridge. The man was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead.
Missouri requires drivers to operate motor vehicles with the highest standard of care. The law is meant to prevent tragic accidents like yesterday's accident. This man from Ballwin did not collide with any other vehicles or pedestrians in his auto accident, but injury or death to others could have easily occurred. It has not been released yet why the man lost control of his car- it could have been his error or something out of his control. Nonetheless, accidents like these provide painful reminders of why it is important to public safety to drive as safely as possible.
