Tragically, an entire family was killed in one fatal crash Friday in Tennessee. The family was heading to Gatlinburg for a week to relax and unwind, but sadly never made it to their destination. Furthermore, the Cruce family died after their vehicle collided with two other cars which were stopped in the middle lane on Interstate 40 in Wilson County; Mike and Monica parents to sons Stephen and Joshua all died from their injuries. The others that were involved in the accident were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Chase Fakes, who stopped his vehicle in the center lanes of the interstate, has been charged with DUI, and implied consent although he was not in his vehicle at the time of the crash.
Close friends and family of the tight knit, loving Cruses' are mourning the loss of the wonderful group of people that they were. Mike Cruse was pursuing an online graduate degree in Christian ministry, and friend Justin Mason said, "He's a true man of character, integrity, and faith. He loved God and loved people." Others reminisced at how devoted the family was to helping others in need, and how much they will all be missed. Currently, the Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and awaiting toxicology reports on Fakes.
