Meyerkord & Kurth, LLC: A Legacy of Legal Innovation
California-based company Kawasaki Motors Corp. USA has issued a voluntary recall of its Teryx4 Recreational Off-highway Vehicles after finding that the vehicles pose an unusually high risk of injury. Specifically, the floor boards of the vehicle can be easily punctured by a stick or other debris. If debris breaks through the floor board and protrudes into the foot rest area, the operator and front passenger can be injured. The recall includes 2012 and 2013 Kawasaki Teryx4 750 4x4 recreational off-highway vehicles. The four-wheel drive vehicles provide seating for four people and have four doors, automobile-style controls, a roll bar with hand holds and a cargo bed. Both the 2012 and 2013 models come in three different styles and a variety of different colors. The recalled products, which include around 11,000 units, were sold nationwide at Kawasaki dealers for around $13,400 from October 2011 through July 2014. Thus far, the company has received four reports of debris breaking through the floor boards of the vehicles, two of which involved injuries to riders' toes and thighs. Consumers who may be in possession of this product should immediately cease use and contact an authorized Kawasaki dealer to schedule a free repair, consisting of the installation of floor board guards.
