The Consumer Product Safety Commission is suing Baby Matters, LLC. Baby Matters, LLC created Nap Nanny seats which are basically recliners for babies. The CPSC has stated this product poses a substantial risk of injury or death to babies. The CPSC is seeking to force the company to initiate a public recall of the product and issue refunds to all its costumers. This action has been prompted by the death of several babies. In July of 2010, a four month old girl died from using the seat. In response, the company offered an $80 coupon for customers to purchase a newer model of the same seat. However, these seats cost $130. Since this offer by the company, four more babies have died while using the recliners. More the 150,000 of these seats have been sold. According to the CPSC, the seat is dangerous when the harness is not engaged and tightened down.
