Baby Water Recalled by Kroger

Posted By Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC || 4-Jan-2018

A product recall has been issued by Kroger-owned stores. The product being recalled is Comforts for Baby Purified Water with Fluoride Added, which is sold in clear, one-gallon containers. These containers are contaminated with Talaromyces penicillium, a mold that cannot always be seen by the naked eye. Babies with HIV who have ingested this mold-contaminated water are at risk - the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reports that it could cause severe health issues.

It is the responsibility of companies that make and distribute products to ensure that their products are not defective or dangerous. Product recalls occur when a manufacturer accepts that they may be at the risk of having multiple lawsuits filed against them due to product injuries. In the year 2016, there were about 800 food product recalls.
