Connecticut Jogger Critically Injured in Pedestrian Accident

|

A jogger sustained serious injuries after being struck in West Hartford, Connecticut. Police reported that they responded to a call around 6:30 p.m. for a pedestrian accident. Authorities said that the car headed southbound and the pedestrian was jogging west when he was hit. Police officers were told by witnesses that southbound traffic had the green light when the accident occurred. The car approached the intersection and hit the victim who allegedly jogged into the car’s path. Traffic lights and signals were reported to be functioning correctly during the accident. The victim received critical injuries and medics transported him to the hospital.

Thousands of people are injured each year in pedestrian accidents. It’s important for all pedestrians to abide by signals, crosswalks and remaining alert when trying to cross when traffic is present. However, it is also wise to pay attention to traffic and other drivers. Pedestrians who have the right-of-way still need to be alert to drivers who may be distracted or not paying attention. Injuries caused by pedestrian accidents can be severe and even life-threatening. Always contact a personal injury attorney if you sustain injuries in a pedestrian accident. The driver of the vehicle may be liable for your injuries and the medical expenses that occur from them.
